from patara to pamukkale by bus
It was one of those days that I would have been happy for someone to do it all for us: walk to Patara bus stop (5 minutes), local bus (dolmush) to highway (10 minutes), flagging down a bus headed to Fetihye (1.5 hours), connection to bus to Denizli (a 4 hour mail run) then a local bus to Pammukkale (15 minutes).

sun and sand at patara beach
Patara village itself seems to have seen better days, previously supporting far more tourists than currently visit due to economic conditions, travel warnings and the rise of all-inclusive package tourism. For a beach village devoted to tourism, we saw little of it - a mere handful of local restaurtants and gozleme purveyors who still dircted themselves towards foreigners.

hotel zeybek 1, patara
