travel ready blog
Day -12: A few improvements to the site over the long weekend - in between studying for my two exams at MGSM! By the time we leave I want the features you see here to be locked and loaded and ready to go. Some of the major ones:
- uploaded a better looking header with snaps of some of the places we’re heading (left to right: norwegian fjords, santorini and udaipur)
- widened the page to allow for more text in the middle and slightly bigger sidebars
- enhanced the left sidebar with a dynamic listing of the most popular posts
- added a plugin which allows commenters to tick a box to receive an email if the conversation keeps going
- added a google search box at the bottom of each page - although the googlebots are yet to stumble across this little corner of the blogosphere!
There’s one thing I’d love to crack before we go. I’m hoping to create a dynamic itinerary page which builds the post based on custom fields that I code for each night’s accommodation. I know it’s something to do with “The Loop” (this means something to Wordpress nerds) but the finer points of the coding are still evading me.
Let me know if there are any improvements you would like to suggest, and if I can get them through the editorial committee (Kate) then you may see them here!
